No less than a month ago, we watched Apple release the iPhone 14 on September 7, 2022. And now we’re here with yet another launch event, the Made by Google Event, that was held yesterday in the Williamsburg neighborhood of New York City.

Google had already announced the Pixel 7 and Pixel Watch to be released in the October event. Besides these two show starrers, what else did we get from Google? Let’s find out.

What Was Announced At The Made By Google Event?

We already know everything Apple announced at its ‘Far Out’ event, but if you didn’t catch the live broadcast of Made by Google Event 2022, here’s a quick rundown of everything announced at this event.

Let’s dive right in.

The Pixel 7

As expected, the Pixel 7 series, including the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, was the star of the show.

The Pixel 7 features a slightly smaller 6.3-inch display compared to last year’s Pixel. But it offers the same 1080 x 2400 resolution. As far as design is concerned, the Pixel 7 doesn’t deviate significantly from last year’s design. You get the same prominent camera bar on the back.

A good thing about this year’s devices is that their aluminum bodies are made with 100% recycled materials.

As far as Pixel 7 colors are concerned, it is available in three classic hues:

  • Snow
  • Obsidian
  • Lemongrass

Similar to Google Pixel 6, the Pixel 7 also features a dual-camera system with a 50 MP standard camera and a 12 MP ultrawide lens. However, the selfie camera got an upgrade from an 8 MP to a 12 MP wide lens with a wider field of view.

The camera also has a Photo Unblur feature that uses machine learning to make blurred photos clearer. It also offers a Super Res Zoom feature to shoot 2x photos in full 12.5 MP.

The front-facing camera can be used to unlock your phone, but the under-display fingerprint sensor is still there. Another notable feature is the Tensor G2 chip, enabling various advanced features and improves overall performance.

The Pixel 7 Pro

Of the two Pixel devices revealed at the Google launch event, the Pixel 7 Pro is the more exciting announcement. The reason for its popularity is its three-lens camera system. The 48 MP telephoto and 12 MP ultrawide have received upgrades.

Moreover, the telephoto camera now features the same Quad Bayer PD technology as the primary 50-megapixel sensor. Thanks to the Tensor G2 processor, the Super Res Zoom feature will be significantly enhanced in the Pixel 7 Pro.

Google has also upgraded video shooting with the Pixel 7 Pro. A new feature called Cinematic Blur blurs the video background automatically to make your subject more prominent.

The Pixel Watch – Google’s First Wearable Product

The shining star of the Google October Event is, without a doubt, the Pixel Watch.

The Google Pixel Watch was much awaited by Android users who wanted to own a Google Watch as good as an Apple Watch. The Pixel Watch offers three stainless steel finishes, including silver, gold, and black, but it comes in a single 41mm size case. Google has claimed that it will launch with 19 different watch faces and 20 different bands.

If you’re accustomed to Apple Watch, the Pixel watch won’t feel alien to you because it features a Gorilla Glass 5 crystal on top, a haptic crown, and a second side button. All these controls are present on Apple Watch.

The Pixel Watch continuously tracks your heart rate throughout the day. It can also track your sleep overnight and comes with an ECG app. Moreover, it features GPS to track activities like running without your phone.

The Pixel Watch can last up to 24 hours with its always-on display. You can fast charge it to 50% within 30 minutes. And the best thing about this watch is that you’ll get Fitbit Premium free for six months and YouTube Music Premium free for three months.

A Quick Update on The Pixel Tablet

Google events also announce updates on upcoming products, like the recent event gave us a little sneak peek at the Google Pixel Tablet. While the Pixel Tablet won’t be available until sometime in 2023, Google gave us some details about this upcoming device.

As far as tech specs are concerned, we only know that it will feature the Tensor G2 chip. Google didn’t relay much in this regard.

However, we did learn about the Tablet’s design. Rose Yao, Google’s vice president of product management, said that the company had developed a special nano-ceramic coating inspired by the feel of porcelain. The Pixel Tablet will feature this coating embedded in the recycled aluminum frame to provide a better grip.

How to Pre-Order the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro

Both Pixel phones are available for pre-order on Google’s website.

The Pixel 7 is available for pre-order and will be widely available on October 14. If you pre-order through Amazon, you’ll also receive a free $100 gift card with the new Pixel 7.

Similarly, the Pixel 7 Pro is available for pre-order and will be widely available on October 14. You can get a free $200 gift card by pre-ordering through Amazon.

If you want to get your hands on Google’s brand-new smartphone immediately, go for it. But you can save some money if you wait a few months and buy a used Pixel 7 or find a refurbished Pixel 7 Pro for sale.
