Apple is Set to Release the iPhone 14 on September 7, 2022

  • Apple is believed to organize a launch event on September 7, 2022
  • This event will reveal a number of new products, including the much-awaited iPhone 14
  • The iPhone 14 series is believed to get an all-new chip and camera upgrades

Until now, we’ve heard nothing but rumors about the iPhone 14 release date. There was no official news from the Apple headquarters in California. But not anymore. Apple recently confirmed its latest event on 9/7 at 10 a.m. PT. The Far Out launch event is highly anticipated due to the release of the iPhone 14, but many other notable items will also be revealed during the event.

When is the iPhone 14 Coming Out?

Just like the iPhone 13 unlocked came out in September 2021, the all-new iPhone 14 is set to release on September 7, 2022. It is a much-awaited iPhone model that has been creating a lot of buzz for many months now. While the iPhone 14 accidental leaks and rumors kept everyone on their toes, Apple’s latest announcement for the Far Out launch event has once again stirred the pot.

Ever since Apple unveiled iOS 16, users have been waiting for the iPhone 14 to come out so they can try out all the amazing features Apple has promised to include in the new OS version. So, finally, the wait is almost over as we’re only about a week away from the grand reveal of the iPhone 14.

What is Apple announcing on Sept 7?

The September 7 event marks the earliest iPhone launch since 2016. Apple usually announces new products in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of September, but this time, we’re getting the iPhone 14 in the first week of September 2022.

Here’s a rundown of what will Apple launch at the September 7 event?

  • The iPhone 14 – of course
  • No iPhone 14 mini
  • Apple Watch 8
  • Apple Watch SE
  • Apple Watch Pro
  • AirPods Pro

What Can Users Expect from the All-New iPhone 14 Series?

Here’s everything you can expect from the iPhone 14 range:

No iPhone 14 Mini

It’s happening – the new iPhone lineup won’t feature a mini model like the previous two series, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. The decision to drop the mini model was based on poor sales records of the last two series.

It is believed that Apple will offer a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch variant of the base and Pro models. It means we may get to see the all-new iPhone 14 Max along with the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Goodbye Face ID Notch

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted in March 2021 that the 2022 iPhone could ditch the notch with the Face ID. The elimination of the Face ID notch is one of the most significant design changes coming to the iPhone 14 series.

The notch has been a controversial design element since it was introduced on the iPhone X in 2017. Some people love it, while others hate it. But regardless of your opinion on the matter, it looks like Apple is finally getting rid of it.

Whether we get a pill-shaped notch or a hole-punch camera notch – it can only settle on September 7 now.

Improved Cameras

The camera systems on the iPhone 14 series are rumored to be significantly improved compared to the ones on the iPhone 13 series. The iPhone 14 Pro range may house something special; a new 1/1.3in 48MP CMOS image sensor for the main wide-angle lens.

There were several camera improvements rolled out in the iOS 16 update. So, you can enhance your photography and videography experience through this iPhone.

ProMotion Might Still Be a Pro Exclusive Feature

A key feature that surfaced with the iPhone 13 series and you can easily use on your iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max unlocked was the ProMotion display.

While we expected to see this feature available on all iPhone 14 models, it is the one feature rumored to be exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro models.

ProMotion is a great feature, but it comes at a cost. The higher refresh rate requires more power, which can shorten battery life. So, it makes sense that Apple would reserve this feature for the Pro models, which may also come with bigger batteries.

The First eSIM-Only iPhone

One of the most exciting rumors about the iPhone 14 series is that one of the models might be eSIM-only. This means that the device would not have a nano-SIM card slot, and you would need to use an eSIM in order to use it on a cellular network.

This rumor is based on a leaked image of an iPhone 14 case that shows a SIM card slot but no mention of eSIM. So, it’s possible that this feature will only be available on specific models or in certain countries.

iOS 16

The iPhone 14 series is rumored to be running iOS 16, which is said to be a major update introducing several new features and improvements. These include a new Home screen design, an updated Lock screen, a redesigned Siri interface, and more. While a number of iOS 16 features were revealed at the WWDC, there are many hidden iOS 16 features that we’ll only find out once Apple releases the iPhone 14.

Final Thoughts

Throughout 2022, we have heard all sorts of rumors about the iPhone 14. From iPhone 14 price to iPhone 14 colors, we have a theory about everything. By announcing its Far Out launch event, Apple is finally allowing us to see our theories become a reality (or tossed into a bin). So, keep your fingers crossed for the Apple launch event scheduled on September 7, 2022.
