GOOGLE PHOTOS ELIMINATING UNLIMITED STORAGE IN 2021

Google Photos Eliminating Unlimited Storage in 2021

Google Photos is eliminating its unlimited free storage for photos and videos starting June 1, 2021. Starting in June 2021, users will be given 15GB maximum storage with the ability to upgrade to one of Google One’s cloud storage plans. After that date, all new photos and videos uploaded to Google Photos will count against your Google Drive storage quota. If you exceed your storage quota, you will need to upgrade your storage plan or delete photos and videos to make more space.

Here are some things to keep in mind about the change:

  • Your existing photos and videos will not be affected by the change. They will still be stored for free, even if you upload more photos and videos after June 1, 2021.
  • You can still view and download your photos and videos from Google Photos, even if you exceed your storage quota. However, you will not be able to upload new photos and videos until you free up more space.
  • If you exceed your storage quota, you will be notified by Google Photos. You can then upgrade your storage plan or delete photos and videos to make more space.

Here are some options for upgrading your storage plan:

  • Google One: Google One is a paid storage plan that offers 100GB, 200GB, 2TB, 10TB, and 30TB of storage. You can share your storage plan with up to 5 family members.
  • Additional Google Drive storage: You can also purchase additional Google Drive storage, which can be used to store photos, videos, and other files.

If you do not want to upgrade your storage plan, you can delete photos and videos from Google Photos to make more space. You can delete photos and videos individually, or you can use the Free up space tool to automatically delete photos and videos that are backed up in other places.
